ISTAC
POST 18 SEND
Supporting vulnerable young people aged 18 - 25
Intensive Systemic Therapy Around the Child (ISTAC) Post 18 SEND, by Youth Untroubled, is an adaptation of the original ISTAC model - the evidence-based community treatment programme, developed in accordance with NICE guidelines, to treat antisocial behaviour, chronic conduct disorders, and complex emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and young people.
This adaptation has been developed specifically for young adults aged 18-25, who are living at home, and who are neurodiverse or have special educational needs and disabilities. This adaptation of ISTAC has been developed in direct response to the long-term education, health and social care plans to extend the age of any transition of care to 25.
ISTAC post 18 SEND aims to meet the needs of those vulnerable young adults who may not always meet the threshold for mental health services, but present with complex social needs, experience interpersonal difficulties or have a history of trauma, increasing their vulnerability and placing them at risk of harm.
